Being the Change - Day 13

John Maxwell said that "Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empowers others." If it one thing that I've learned under great leadership is the magic of them to empower others to become great.

Being a part of Hanford Dole's administration team under the leadership of Mr. Courtwright is truly an honor. His passion to do whatever it takes to ensure students are successful is contagious. He embodies every great quality of a great leader and empowers others to be great.

He is very passionate about the implementation of High Quality Blended Learning. His book Blended he always by his side. I know he has read this book at least three times and can probably recite parts of it! Mr. Courtwright lights up when he talks about Blended Learning. His dedication and passion for Blended Learning motivates and empowers us to give Blended Learning the same dedication and passion.

The staff of Hanford Dole work very hard towards our vision: To nurture lifelong learners prepared and empowered to embrace the possibilities and responsibilities of their future. Mr. Courtwright leads by example and empowers each of us to give 100% to everything we do for the students of Hanford Dole! He inspires and motivates us all to embrace change and he is the change he wants to see.

Implementing anything new is hard and the key to ensure buy-in begins with the leader. Blended Learning is new to all of us, but we are dedicated to implementing it successful. He was not the leader that took the initiative and said, I want my staff to try this. He read about it, formed a team to create procedures and processes for it, and implemented it with passion. If you spend sometime with Mr. Courtwright, I can guarantee you by the time you leave, you will be interested in what Blended Learning is if you are new to the term. If you have heard it before, you would definitely be interested in how he has implemented it at Hanford Dole.

Today's blog is not just about being the change...on Day 13. I was so excited to write this blog because after 3 weeks in school, I realized today what impact our leader have on what we do each day. I get excited when I see students rotating, on a personalized learning plan, teachers collaborating,  support staff working with all students, and smiling faces of students excited about learning. It takes all us working together to reach a common goal, but it requires a passionate leader to get us on the right track!

It's a Great Day to Be a BOBCAT!
