Do you have confidence in your building leaders?--Day 18

Today, we will share an example of an email we sent to staff showing the adjustments our committee heads made for the month of September. We put a lot of responsibility in the hands of our committee heads as we look to build culture and climate at HDES this year. As leaders of your school, it is very important to build leaders who have the capacity to make school wide decisions. As leaders, you need to have the confidence in your leaders to make decisions without having to micromanage every decision that does not come directly from you. For example, offensive coordinators call the offensive plays and defensive coordinators call the defense while the head coach oversees them both only making changes when they feel absolutely necessary. We, as building administrators, need to have more trust in those leaders in our building! Let go and see the great continuous improvements that can be made in your building! This is a major step in our blended learning implementation!

Sample email and Flowchart:

We are really excited about our continuous improvement mindset and the work our committees are doing in making HDES the best it can be. Attached are the notes/updates/adjustments that have been made for September. There has been crucial updates so we need all staff to read their emails. GL chairs, please make sure all members of your team are clear concerning any changes or updates. We appreciate all the work as we continue our BL journey. We will do our best to make HDES a student-centered school with high quality blended learning being implemented. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thx!

This is the flowchart our committee heads follow in their meeting when addressing a problem.
